Much of the sound editing at Soundcrafter is completed on home workstations.  On small projects this approach saves the client rental costs.  On large projects this frees up space at Soundcrafter when many editors are needed and the facility becomes a hub for the organization, recording and mixing.

The Soundcrafter facility has three main rooms.  Each is acoustically treated and designed for a different combination of purposes.  All editing and mixing is based on a standardized Pro Tools template so tracks and audio with automation can be moved easily from one room or workstation to another.  The mixing plug-ins used are chosen for their quality and standardization between Soundcrafter and other mixing facilities.  For sound design, the AVID software, Structure, is commonly used to feed sampled and synthesized sounds into Pro Tools.  A large sound effects library, built from purchased libraries and original recordings, uses Sound Miner as the database software.  All projects are stored and backed up on removable sata drives. The facility also includes a Sound Design 744 field recording package and a number of Sennheiser, Neumann and Schoeps microphones.

Room 1 is used for ADR/VO recording, foley recording and mixing. The 7.1speaker system uses JBL 3677 Cinema Series main speakers and Rythmik Audio subwoofers. A window connects to Room 2. The floor slides back revealing the foley pit. In the picture below it is is being used for foley recording on the film Bernie.

Room 2 is used for recording, design work and mixing. The 5.1 speaker system uses Genelec 1030A main speakers and a Genelec7070A subwoofer.

Room 3 is used for design work, editing and mixing. The 5.1 speaker system is JBL LSR4326P.
